IRVINE, Calif. - UC Riverside completed its final regular season meet over the weekend at the UC Irvine Steve Scott Invitational, dropping personal bests and picking up Big West qualifying marks in Irvine.
Shiloh Corrales-Nelson was as advertised and then some in Friday's hammer throw, posting a new lifetime best of 58.36m while coming close to an NCAA first round berth. Karyssa Owens also posted a new lifetime best in the hammer with a 51.38m.
Linda Perez was also as advertised, this time in the mile with a win in 4:41.10 to kick off the distance crew. Perez picked up her third regional qualifying event in the process. Collette Lowengrub finished in under five minutes for the first time in the mile while Norma Alvarez was less than a second behind the mark while Samantha Velazquez, Riley Jones and Carolinh Calvert also put in solid performances as well.
Calvert earned her second Big West qualifier of the year with a 2:13.96 in the 800m on day two while Victoria Ervin scored a new PR in the 1500 with a 5:03.10 for third overall.
Andrew Jackson won the 800m on the men's side in 1:50.79 while Tyler Kaan, Zach Cadima, Noah Murasmith and Lance Denhalter all picked up heat wins. Cadima, Kaan and Murasmith all set new PRs while Murasmith made it four heat wins in a row.
Ashraf Abdelmagid made his steeplechase debut count with a Big West-qualifying 9:14.76, good for third in school history. Zach Cadima also posted a new PR in the steeplechase in 9:23.71 while Ethan Samuels was just off a PR.
Lance Denhalter almost set a new PR in the 1500 while Sean Caster had a slight PR of 14:26.40 in the 5k.
Martin Billings II matched his lifetime best in the 110m hurdle with 14.28 and Delaney Harris clocked in her first sub-12 100m at 11.96. In the women's 200m, Raykiyat Olukoju ran 23.99 and reigning Big West Track Athlete of the Week Saniyah Starks recorded her second-fastest time with a 24.78.
