RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Current Highlander Briza Blanco and incoming Highlander Mariana Palazuelos both earned national team call-ups for Mexico. 

Palazuelos, who will play for UCR starting in 2024, was named to Mexico's U18 team and will play two exhibition games in Mexico from September 21 to 24 before competing in the Pan American Games in Peru in November. Palazuelos comes to UC Riverside from Channel League champion Rio Mesa High School and earned First Team All-Channel League as a senior. 

Blanco will compete in tournament games in Mexico with dates to be determined. The Murrieta native will return for her fifth year at UCR in 2024 after making 13 appearances in the circle last year with 17.2 innings pitched.
