INDIANAPOLIS - UC Riverside dropped match number two at the Hampton Inn Invitational on Friday to Eastern Illinois, 3-0. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• UCR matched Eastern Illinois in set one with 14 digs per side. 
• The Highlanders were more evenly matched in set two, playing to a 6-6 tie off the opening serve with Mylei Vargas-Deason recording two of UC Riverside's first four kills. 
• Delaney Tate accounted for six of UCR's 16 kills in set two, as the Highlanders dropped a narrow 27-25 second set while hitting .179 as a unit. 
• UC Riverside put up three of its seven service aces in set three, including Beatriz Silva putting one down to give UCR a 1-0 lead in set three. All three aces came in the early going as the Highlanders jumped out to an early 4-2 lead. 

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS

• Tate led UC Riverside with eight kills in Friday's matinee, while Brooklyn Wiedenheft and Tylee Fuller accounted for 20 of UCR's 38 digs. 
• Tate and Wiedenheft combined for four of the Highlanders' seven aces on the afternoon.
