
Women’s Golf Sets Program Record for Lowest Three-Day Total on Day Three in Utah

PROVO, Utah - UC Riverside finished tied for seventh at the Timpanogos Collegiate Invitational in Provo, Utah thanks to a program-record three-day total of 866 after round three.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mylan Hirata eagled the fifth hole on her way to shooting a 71Â (-1) to close out the event. The fifth year carded her second eagle of the tournament en route to claiming a top-five finish.Â
- Vanessa Betancourt birdied a first hole that gave her fits in rounds one and two, going nearly bogey-free for the second straight day. The senior teed off on nine and went par, birdie, birdie on her first three holes of the round.
- Mitzi Duarte birdied three of the final five holes on the front nine and shot even par on the front nine, carding a 73 (+1) to finish out her first collegiate tournament.Â
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
- UC Riverside set a new program record for a low three-day total, shattering the previous record of 872 with an 866 on day three in Provo.Â
- Betancourt (T4) and Hirata (T5) both finished in the top 10, spearheading UCR's new program record. The duo combined for 12 of the Highlanders' 27 birdies in round three while each shooting their best three-day scores when it mattered most.Â
- Hirata finished her season opener at par or below for the third day in a row while Betancourt's 65 (-7) was a new career low for the senior.Â
