Webster’s Career Night Helps Highlanders Down Bakersfield

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside stretched its win streak to four on Thursday night at the SRC Arena with a 64-62 win over Cal State Bakersfield.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Makayla Jackson led UCR with 11 points in the first half on 4 of 6 shooting. Jackson hit a three in the final seconds prior to halftime to solidify her sixth game in her last eight with at least 10 points.
  • Jordan Webster grabbed three rebounds in the first half but quickly registered three more in the first few minutes after halftime, helping the Highlanders go on a 7-0 run dating back to Jackson's three just before the break.
  • Jackson stretched the run to 10-0 with her third triple of the night, forcing a Bakersfield timeout while UCR continued to chip away at its deficit.
  • Webster knocked down the back end of two shots from the free throw line to erase a 15-point deficit and tie the game at 37 late in the third quarter.
  • UC Riverside overcame its second biggest deficit of Big West play at 15 points with just over three minutes remaining until halftime, but followed that up by outscoring the Roadrunners 23-9 in the third quarter while holding them to just 2 of 16 from the field in the frame.
  • Webster grabbed the game-winning rebound as Bakersfield missed the tying shot, giving Webster her second double double of the season and soon after her first career 30-point game.
