Men’s Tennis Drops First Two Matches at UNLV Quad

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - UC Riverside dropped a pair of 4-1 matches to New Mexico State and Weber State on Friday at the UNLV Quad, held at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ryan Huynh and Aarav Sane grabbed a doubles point with a 6-3 win on No. 2 in the morning match against New Mexico State.
- The duo showed strong performances in singles as well. Sane went 2-0 after the Aggies with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win in No. 5 singles while Huynh forced a third set on No. 6.Â
- Justin Lamy and Hugo DeGrande went unfinished in singles play against New Mexico State.
- Huynh and Sane again teamed up in doubles later in the day against Weber State and went unfinished on No. 2 after being tied at six.Â
- Lucas Ibarrondo Suarez picked up his first collegiate singles win on No. 3 by retirement.Â
- DeGrande went unfinished on No. 5 against the Wildcats after grinding out a 7-5 win in set one.
- Joshua Roth went unfinished on No. 1 despite owning a 1-0 lead with a 6-6 tie in set two. Â
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
- Sane and Ibarrondo Suarez each picked up their first singles wins of the season.Â
- UC Riverside went unbeaten in doubles play twice on No. 2.Â
