RIVERSIDE, Calif. – UC Riverside closed October on Saturday afternoon at the SRC Arena with a 3-0 loss to UC Irvine.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• UC Riverside stayed within a point of the Anteaters at the 15-all media break, continuing their momentum from Saturday's win at Cal State Fullerton.  
• Set one featured six ties and two lead changes with UCR holding as much as an 8-5 lead at one point.  
• The Highlanders hit .256 in set two with seven kills from Trinity Sheridan, who put down UCR's first three kills of the set.  
• UC Riverside kept it close late in the set with back-to-back kills from Jessica Dean before falling in set two, 25-20.  
• UCR held steady with the Anteaters in set three, taking a 6-5 lead early on Mia Delahoussaye's kill before momentum shifted to the other bench.  

NOTABLES 

• Sheridan dusted off the cobwebs after set one and recorded all but two of her kills past that point to lead UCR, now hitting above .300 in five straight matches.  
• Makena Tong registered a career-high 16 assists on the day. 
• Dean and Kailyn Jager combined for 22 of the Highlanders' 40 digs.
