CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - UC Riverside capped off its trip to the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic on Sunday afternoon in Cathedral City with an 8-7 loss to San Diego.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• UCR got on the board first with a couple hits through the left side. Kat Montuya led off the game with a single through the left side, and scored from second on a single from Lauryn Garewal. 
• The Highlanders doubled their lead in the third on a two-out single from Bella Scozzola. UCR ultimately put runners in scoring position in six of seven innings.  
• Elise Nishimura secured her first career RBI in the fifth, helping Jen Ragay plate her first career run.  
• Rebeca Cabezas provided the go-ahead RBI down to her last strike in the seventh, slapping a 3-2 pitch between first and second to give the Highlanders a breath of life.  

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

• UCR's 15 hits were the most in a game this season and most in a non-conference game since 2020.  
• Nadia Witt went 3 for 3 with a run in the Mary Nutter finale and now leads the team with five multi-hit games.
