
Highlanders Fall at CSUN

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - UC Riverside dropped a 76-70 decision to CSUN on Saturday night at Premier America Credit Union Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Isaiah Moses had UCR off to the races from the opening tip, sinking a pair of threes as part of an early 9-0 Highlander advantage.
- Kaleb Smith gave the Highlanders their largest lead of the night at 26-15 after Luke Turner connected on a corner three.
- UCR connected on six triples in the first half and claimed a sizable 9-4 edge on the offensive glass.
- Barrington Hargress took a brief CSUN offensive spurt into his own hands with UCR's seventh three of the night to regain a 37-34 lead at the first media break of the second half. The freshman connected on a second triple a few minutes later to complete a 7-0 Highlander run.
- Nate Pickens trimmed the deficit to six points with under a minute to go with the three ball. Hargress narrowed it to five later on with another three of his own and drove through for the layup, securing his second 20-point performance of the season.
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
- Barrington Hargress scored 17 of his 20 points after halftime and has now recorded a pair of 20-point Big West outings this season.
- Kyle Owens recorded his third double double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds, going 9 of 11 from the free throw line.
- Pickens tied a career high with three steals against the Matadors.
