Baseball Falls to CSUN in Series Finale

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside fell, 4-1, to CSUN on Sunday at the Riverside Sports Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Kurt Marton retired three of his first four CSUN batters on the afternoon before the Matadors struck with the first run of the game.
  • Cole Koniarsky reached scoring position in the first, advancing to second on a wild pitch after taking the first pitch of his at bat into left field for a two-out single.
  • Jayden Lopez led off the fifth inning with a double to left center and moved to third on a sacrifice groundout before a second one from Andrew Rivas brought him home for the tying run.
  • Bubba Rocha showed off his wheels in the seventh, going from first to third on a routine single up the middle.
  • UCR found itself in prime position to inch closer with runners on second and third following Tyler Weaver's steal of second but was unable to capitalize after grounding into a double play.
  • UC Riverside replicated its threat in the eighth with runners on second and third.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
