LA JOLLA, Calif.- UC Riverside fell, 7-3, to UCSD on Thursday's opening game of the weekend's three-game set at Triton Ballpark. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• UCR jumped ahead early off an RBI single from Bubba Rocha, scoring Cole Koniarsky in the top of the first.
• UCSD answered back in the bottom of the first inning with a single run, and pulled ahead in bottom of the third with an RBI sacrifice fly after a scoreless second inning. At the end of the third inning, the Tritons led, 2-1.
• Jayden Lopez evened the game up at 2-2 after scoring on a wild pitch in the fourth. 
• UCSD took the lead once again in the bottom of the frame with an RBI single up the middle. They extended their lead to 5-2, with a pair runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
• Dominic Martinez brought in a run in the top of the seventh with a single to right center, scoring the Highlanders final run of the game, bringing the score to 5-3. 
• Triton runs in the bottom of the seventh and eighth inning cemented their victory in the opening game of the series with a 7-3 final score.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

• Dominic Martinez went 2 for 4 in the series opener, with one RBI and one walk.
• Andrew Rivas and Jayden Lopez each hit for a double in the series opener.
