RIVERSIDE, Calif. – UC Riverside (9-16, 0-7) put up a three spot in the fourth inning but fell 9-3 to Cal Poly (16-12, 7-3) in game one of a three-game series on Friday night at the Riverside Sports Complex.   

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Cole Koniarsky went 3 for 4 for the evening with a run. The junior recorded UCR's first hit of the game on a two-out single in the first that led to UC Riverside putting two runners on in an early threat.  
• The Highlanders did all their damage in the fourth inning, recording three runs on four hits. Jayden Lopez and Tyler Weaver brought about UCR's scoring in efficient fashion, knocking back-to-back RBI doubles into left field.  
• Zachary Chamizo led the charge in the eighth inning with a single into left center, followed by Koniarsky going the opposite way to quickly put two Highlanders aboard. 
• UC Riverside ultimately stranded three on the base path in the eighth with nothing to show for it.  

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

• Koniarsky's on-base streak has now reached 19 games after securing his 12th multi-hit game of the season and fourth with three hits.
