FAIRFAX, Va. (September 1, 2024) - UC Riverside wrapped up its first tournament of 2024 on Sunday morning at the Recreation Athletic Complex with a 3-2 loss at George Mason.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Carissa Wiles and Trinity Sheridan each logged two kills apiece in set one.  
• UC Riverside's offense fired on all cylinders in set two, not only tying the match at one set apiece but doing so with a .500 hitting clip on nine kills.  
• Set two was also void of any attack errors for UCR with three aces to boot. Sheridan and Sophia Ewalefo notched three kills apiece in the second frame as UCR pulled away from the Patriots following a 12-12 tie.  
• UCR pushed George Mason to the brink in set three with a narrow 25-23 victory, paced by seven kills from Ewalefo, who continued to be a playmaker at the net.  
• UCR hit .200 in set five, but was unable to grab win number one on the season.  

NOTABLES 

• Sheridan put up her second straight double double early in the early stages of her debut UCR season with 10 kills and 12 digs against the Patriots.  
• UC Riverside has recorded 16 service aces in its last two matches after notching 10 in its first two.

• UCR is headed to tournament number two of the 2024 season and will serve it up against Idaho from the Southern Utah Invitational on Friday, September 6 at 9:00 a.m.
