RIVERSIDE, Calif. (September 13, 2024) - UC Riverside played its second game at California Baptist's Van Dyne Gym in as many days, falling 3-1 to San Diego State on Friday on a neutral court. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• UCR's offense from Thursday's Crosstown Showdown victory bled into Friday, where the Highlanders started with a .538 hitting clip and a 14-12 lead in set one.  
• Sophia Ewalefo hit .286 with six kills in a first set that featured seven ties and three lead changes.  
• Momentum seesawed between sidelines in set two, and UC Riverside caught the latter of it with a 6-0 scoring run to put the Highlanders within a couple points.  
• The Highlanders enjoyed their best offensive output in set three with a .276 hitting clip.  

NOTABLES 

• UCR led after a set for the second time this year, the only other time being in the Highlanders' 3-1 neutral site win over Idaho.  
• UC Riverside put up a season high in service aces for the second consecutive match, notching 11 against the Aztecs.
