RIVERSIDE, Calif. (September 15, 2024) - UC Riverside dropped a 1-0 decision to San Diego on Sunday night at the UC Riverside Soccer Stadium.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Spenser Gonzales logged UCR's first shot in the early stages of the night, sending an attempt on net from outside the box to the lower right. Braelynn Llamoca also went for goal towards the right of the net in the 16th minute but missed from further out.  
• UC Riverside put a damper on San Diego's accuracy in the final third early with just two shots on goal credited to the Toreros in the first half.  
• Julianna Hernandez claimed the Highlanders' other shot on goal for the opening frame, aiming towards the left post from the edge of the attacking third.  
• San Diego opened the scoring from inside the box in the 52nd minute, ending the Highlanders' stretch of just one goal allowed from open play in 237 minutes.  
• Kyleigh Sekulich made her third appearance of the season in the 69th minute and nearly equalized 20 minutes later with a shot over the crossbar as UCR looked to level things late. 

NOTABLES 

• Despite the loss, UCR has now conceded from open play just three times in the last 275 minutes.  
• UC Riverside allowed just one shot inside the box on the night.  
• Allee Grashoff has now made 14 saves in her last two appearances between the posts after recording five against the Toreros on Sunday.
