DAVIS, Calif. - UC Riverside (7-14, 3-8 Big West) came alive in set three on Tuesday night, but fell 3-0 to UC Davis (14-5, 10-1 Big West) at the University Credit Union Center. 

The Highlanders committed their third fewest errors in a match this season while Andrea Brewer paced the offense with a team-high 10 kills. 

Sophia Ewalefo got the Highlanders going in set one with Mia Delahoussaye, Brianna Bowyer, and Brewer also joining the action. UCR forced four attack errors while profiting from two service errors. 

UC Riverside got out to a 2-0 lead in set two on a kill from Evelyn Hendrix and an Ewalefo block. UCR pushed the lead to 6-4 and was the first to 15 after Brewer's fifth kill of the night off the block. 

A 7-2 scoring run kept the Highlanders a step ahead of the Big West leaders later in set two. UCR called timeout down 17-16, forcing seven errors altogether in set two while Brewer registered four kills. 

UCR scored six unanswered points to climb out of a slow set three start. Brewer and Misu Nguyen were integral in pulling the Highlanders up by the bootstraps to make life difficult for the hosts. UC Riverside generated 12 of its 14 set three points off kills, forcing four UC Davis errors.

UCR hit .235 (12-4-34) in set three while Brewer capped off her fifth 10-kill match of the year, second of Big West play, and first since September 26 at Hawai'i. 

UCR returns to action on Saturday, November 1 for a rematch with the Rainbow Wahine at the SRC Arena. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 pm, and tickets are on sale now at GoHighlanders.com/tickets.
