RIVERSIDE, Calif. - All three indoor sports continue action this week at UC Riverside, as Women's Volleyball draws its season to a close. Also in action, Men's and Women's Basketball continue early-season competition.
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Year one of the Branden Higa era wraps up this weekend when Cal State Bakersfield and CSUN visit the SRC Arena on Thursday and Saturday.
The Highlanders return home after capping off a four-match road trip with a four-set victory at UC San Diego on Friday. UCR Student-Athlete of the Week Jessica Dean, one of four seniors to be honored on Saturday, became just the sixth Highlander in history to reach 1,400 digs over the weekend.
The first 200 students through the door for Thursday's 6:00 pm contest with the Roadrunners will receive a free UCR campus tour t-shirt. Thursday is also the annual Blue Out game, and fans and students alike are encouraged to wear blue.
Dean, along with fellow seniors Sophia Ewalefo, Layla Hooks, and Makena Tong, will be honored in a post-match ceremony on Saturday following the season finale against CSUN.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Highlander Men's Basketball hits the road this week for a pair of contests, beginning with Tuesday night's Crosstown Showdown at California Baptist. UCR will look to make it back-to-back wins over the Lancers for the first time in the program's Division I era.
The mini road trip ends on Friday night with a visit to San Diego.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
UC Riverside Women's Basketball also hits the road for two contests this week. The Highlanders are headed to the Gem State this weekend, taking on Idaho on Friday and Boise State in a Sunday matinee.
