UCR Gets Big Win Over APU

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside host an undefeated Azusa Pacific team this afternoon on the SRC Tennis Courts. The Highlanders earned their second win of the year and moved to 2-2 at home with the 4-2 over APU. This was a much needed win for UCR as they had a tough loss to a very good Claremont-Mudd-Scripps team on February 16.Â

- The Highlanders struck first, earning the doubles' point 6-3, 6-4. The teams of Aarav Sane and Lucas Ibarrondo Suarez and Alexey Efremov and Lucas Mszyca got the wins. Justin Lamy and Ryan Huynh's match went unfinished.
- Huynh took the first singles point for UCR winning 6-2, 6-2.
- Efremov followed, winning his match 6-4, 6-4.
- The match clinching victory came on court 3 as Ibarrondo Suarez won a tight one 7-6, 6-4.
- Only one singles match went unfinished, Sane was up 3-1 in the third set.
- The Highlanders have a break as their next match is March 4 at 10:00 a.m., when they welcome the Temple Owls to the SRC.Â
