
Luna Scores Career Low as UC Riverside Finishes Eighth in Phoenix

PHOENIX, Ariz. — The UC Riverside Highlanders put together a solid performance at the GCU Women's Invitational, finishing in eighth place with a two-round total of 598 (+22). The Highlanders improved in the second round, shaving two strokes off their opening round 300 (+12) with a 298 (+10) at the Grand Canyon University Golf Course.

- Sophia Luna led the way for UC Riverside, delivering an impressive career low second-round 68 (-4) to tie for 9th place at 144 (76-68, E).Â
- Janna Andaya posted a 74 (+2) in round two, finishing tied for 22nd with a total of 147 (73-74, +3).Â
- Sofia Vargas, competing as an individual, made a strong push with a second-round 71 (-1) to finish in a tie for 27th at 148 (77-71, +4).
- Mitzi Duarte and Gabrielle Kiger both battled through the course, carding 153 (+9) and 154 (+10), respectively, placing 48th and 54th in the field.
- Maleyna Gregorio rounded out the Highlanders' effort, tying for 59th place with a 155 (+11) after back-to-back steady rounds.
