BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Highlanders got a much needed win tonight at CSU Bakersfield blanking the Roadrunners, 2-0.
Matthew Flores and
Matthew O'Brien combined for a four hit shutout on the road, snapping a four game losing streak and giving UCR its first conference win since the Hawai'i series.
Flores got the nod for UCR and he went 6.1 innings and struck out ten. He only allowed two hits en route to his second win of the year.
O'Brien came out of the pen in the seventh inning and was solid. He threw 2.2 innings and struck out four. He also allowed two hits and earned his first save of the season.
The only runs of the game came in the seventh inning as
Tyler Gordon and
Manoah Chapman both had RBI singles.
Of note,
Robert Pitts collected two more hits for UCR tonight and stole his team leading 16 base of the season.
UCR goes for the series win tomorrow with first pitch set for 1:00 p.m.
