SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Highlanders wrapped up the 2025 season with a 16-7 loss at Cal Poly this afternoon. It was a tough series for UCR as they faced the top offense in the conference.
UCR's
Nolan Milliman made his fifth start of the year in his 22nd appearance. Last time out, he went 1.2 innings in the series finale against Long Beach State. That was his second appearance in the series. This afternoon, he surrendered four runs in the first inning and was relieved by
Matt Hudson.
The Highlanders used a total of four pitchers this afternoon.
Offensively, the Highlanders were led by
Robert Pitts. The Highlanders' center fielder had himself a day. He went 3-for-5 with two homers and three RBI. The first homer put UCR on the board in the third inning and his second homer came a couple of innings later in the fifth inning. Pitt's .325 average led the team this year and this three RBI gave him 26 for the season.Â
It was the sixth inning that the Highlanders showed some offensive life, as they plated five runs.
Ethan Bergan got things going for UCR with a sac-fly to center scoring
Manoah Chapman. For Chapman, it was the 28th run scored, which was tops for the Highlanders this year. The last run of the inning came on an
Andrew Rivas single scoring
Tyson Reis and cut the Cal Poly lead to, 10-7.Â
Cal Poly regained the momentum in the bottom of the sixth scoring four times and added two more in the eighth.
For the Highlanders, their season ends matching last year's win total at 16.
