RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The first full week of May brings championship competition and senior celebrations to UC Riverside Athletics.
UC Riverside Baseball will play its final home series of the 2025 season at The Plex, hosting Long Beach State from May 9-11, live on ESPN+. The Highlanders are coming off a weekend series at CSUN, highlighted by Big West Pitcher of the Week Matthew O'Brien's nine strikeouts across 7.1 innings against the Matadors.
UCR will honor seniors Andrew Rivas, Jacob Badawi, Jayden Lopez and James Appleford in a special ceremony before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. first pitch.
Meanwhile, UC Riverside Track & Field will close the regular season with Friday's Titan Tune-Up at Cal State Fullerton. Live results will be available on FinishedResults.com.

- Heinlin tallied two wins at UC Davis, racking up seven strikeouts and capping her UC Riverside career with a complete-game one-hit shutout to clinch the series!

In Case You Missed It...
- Matthew O'Brien was named Big West Pitcher of the Week after an impressive two-game stretch in the Crosstown Showdown vs. California Baptist and at CSUN. The lefty went 1-0 over 9.2 innings, allowing just one earned run with 10 strikeouts and a 0.98 ERA.
- Senior Maddie Heinlin led the Highlanders to a series win over UC Davis, earning both victories. She capped her UC Riverside softball career with a complete-game one-hit shutout in game three, marking one of her most dominant performances of the season.
- On the courts, UC Riverside Tennis picked up All-Big West honors. For the women, Ramey Yu was named to the All-Big West Second Team in singles. On the men's side, Justin Lamy and Ryan Huynh earned All-Big West Honorable Mention in doubles.
