RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Kazu Kimura has been named the Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF).
This is the first weekly MPSF award of Kimura's career and the first for UC Riverside in program history.
The San Jose native etched his name into the program record book at the Battle Born Classic this past weekend in Reno. Kimura recorded a 7.51m / 24' 7.75" in the men's indoor long jump, winning the event and bolstering him into second all-time in program history behind 2013 All-American Ted Hooper.
Kimura's mark, which currently stands at 13th in the Division I West Region, is a season best for UCR and the best mark by a Highlander in the event since 2014.
UC Riverside returns to action March 1 and 2 for the MPSF Championships in Reno.
