RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Sophomore guard, Hannah Wickstrom, earned All-Big West First Team honors today as announced by The Big West Conference office. This is Wickstrom's second conference honor as last season she was selected to The Big West All-Freshman Team. She was named conference player of the week three times this year. 

"Hannah's journey this season has been special to watch," said UC Riverside's head coach Brad Langston. "She earned this recognition through her consistency, her competitiveness and hours spent in the gym."

Last year, she played in all 30 games with nine starts and this season she played in 27 games and started in all. Her minutes doubled this year averaging almost 34 minutes per game and her scoring average jumped from 7.7 ppg., to 23.3 ppg. Her average this season is tops in the conference and is currently fifth in the NCAA. 

When the record book is updated after this season, Wickstrom's name will appear in the single season lists for points scored, field goals and free throws made. 

Wickstrom scored 30 points or more six times this year and tabulated eight double-doubles, both tops on the team. In her 27 games this year she scored at least ten points in 24 of them, including a career high 36 on January 1 at Hawai'i. The win at Hawai'i was the Highlanders first win there since the 2018-19 season. After the win she sat down with The Highlander, UCR's student led paper, and noted that was a game she would "...remember for a long time."

"First team All-Big West is a reflection of the impact she continues to have on the program," added Langston.

Now, the Highlanders continue their season as they open up with UC Santa Barbara in the first round of the 2026 Credit Union 1 Big West Basketball Championships in Henderson, Nev. Tip time is 2:30pm. UC Riverside split the two meetings this season with the Gauchos.
