HENDERSON, Nev. — Hannah Wickstrom scored 26 points and UC Riverside erased a 14-point second-quarter deficit to take a third-quarter lead before No. 3 seed UC Davis pulled away for a 70-59 win in the Big West Championship quarterfinals.
UC Riverside trailed 30-16 late in the second quarter before closing the half on an 8-0 run. Wickstrom scored twice during that stretch, Lucia Moreno Tallon added a layup in transition and another Wickstrom jumper cut the deficit to 30-24 at the break.
The Highlanders kept that momentum going after halftime. Baskets from Hackley and Bria Shine helped trim the margin, and UC Riverside used a 9-2 push to move in front 33-32 when Wickstrom made two free throws with 5:43 left in the third quarter. It was the Highlanders' first lead since early in the game.
UC Davis answered before the end of the period and took a 45-39 lead into the fourth, but UC Riverside made another push. Wickstrom scored through contact and converted the free throw to complete a three-point play to cut the deficit to two, and Swanson later made two free throws to bring the Highlanders within 52-51 with 5:22 remaining in the game. After Hackley hit two free throws to make it a one-point game at 54-53, the Aggies responded with an 8-0 run to regain control in the final minutes.
Wickstrom also finished with seven rebounds, four assists and eight steals for UC Riverside, which forced 20 turnovers and scored 20 points off giveaways. Taylor Swanson added 10 points for UC Riverside, while Seneca Hackley scored eight.
The Highlanders close the 2025-26 season in the Quarterfinals of the Big West Basketball Championships.
