BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — UC Riverside closed out its weekend series at CSU Bakersfield on Sunday with a 5-1 setback at the Roadrunner Softball Complex.
The Highlanders (6-35, 4-20 Big West) collected five hits in the contest, with Aubrey Marx, Trendee Kahunahana, Leilani Juan and Arianna Saldivar accounting for four of them. Saldivar finished 2 for 3, while Kahunahana scored the Highlanders' lone run.
UC Riverside broke through in the fifth inning. Kahunahana singled to left and Jackie Alday was hit by a pitch before Juan lined an RBI single to center, bringing home Kahunahana to trim the deficit to 4-1.
Emory Cheng (5-13) started in the circle and struck out two over 3.0 innings. Bree Barner added 3.0 innings of relief and allowed one run while striking out one.
CSU Bakersfield scored two runs in the second inning, added two more in the third and one in the fifth to secure the win.
The Highlanders close the 2026 season with a home series against Hawai'i beginning with a doubleheader Friday, May 1st with first pitch at 12pm.
