Bret Lachemann

This will be Bret Lachemann's first season as a pitching coach with UC Riverside Baseball.

He most recently served as both pitching coach and pitching advisor for Hope International at the NAIA level, where he guided the Royals to two regional finals in three years.

In 2022, the Royals led the conference in staff ERA, strikeouts, and opposing batting average.  Two of Lachemann's pitchers, David Morgan (Padres) and Hector Garcia (Twins) signed professional contracts. Garcia was also named an All-American.

Lachemann spent seven years at Cal Poly Pomona (CPP), where he served as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator. Lachemann's Broncos were a Division II powerhouse with an overall record of 213-121 from 2011-2016, reaching four West Regionals and two World Series.

During this run with the Broncos, Lachemann's pitching staffs held many league leading honors to go along with multiple All-Americans. Lachemann as the recruiting coordinator saw 17 players get drafted, eight of those were pitchers and three of those players made it to the Major Leagues.

Lachemann also worked in development at CPP, helping raise over $150,000 for the program and the Scolinos Field project.

Prior to CPP, Lachemann rebuilt a struggling Del Oro High School program as head coach for four seasons, guiding the program to the CIF finals in his second year. Lachemann has also served as the pitching coach at both American River CC and Fullerton CC.

Lachemann played in the Minor Leagues for the Quad City Angels, completing his best season at 9-4 in 1991. Prior to the Angels' organization, Lachemann pitched locally for John Scolinos at CPP in 1989 and 1990. He also pitched at Mt. SAC.

Lachemann is married to Dina Lachemann, a former all-conference volleyball player at CPP.
