Emilio Huerta joined the Highlander coaching staff in 2018 as a volunteer before being named an assistant coach in the summer of 2019.
The 2018 season brought Huerta's dedication to this program full circle as he helped lead the team to its first ever Big West Conference Tournament Championship. The championship was truly a by product of what he and the team began building when he was brought here as a student-athlete. He, the staff, and the student-athletes have continued to build a strong culture that is felt by the campus, the conference, and the community.
Before making the leap to the coaching realm, Huerta was a three-year student-athlete for the Highlanders who tallied 55 appearances in blue and gold and was named Co-Captain in his senior year. He played his freshman season at San Diego State before transferring to UCR in 2015.
Huerta is a Northern California native who hails from Gilroy, Calif.
