Mustangs Record 1-0 Win Over Highlanders

San Luis Obispo, CA—Cal Poly scored the game's only goal with 12 minutes remaining to knock off UC Riverside 1-0 Wednesday night in San Luis Obispo, CA. The Highlanders drop their third straight match to fall to 3-7-1, 0-2-1 in the Big West Conference while the Mustangs improve to 4-5-3, 1-2-1.
UCR had scored five goals in each of its previous two trips to San Luis Obispo but was stifled on this night by the Mustang defense. The Highlanders outshot Cal Poly 6-5 in the first half but had its best chance, a 15th minute shot by junior midfielder Andrew Hills (Loma Linda, CA), cleared away by a defender.
Cal Poly would break the deadlock at 78:43 as Logan Nicks took a pass from Todd Combs and beat UCR junior goalkeeper Charles Alamo (San Luis Obispo, CA). Alamo made three saves on the night.
