San Luis Obispo, CA—The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team found itself in familiar territory Saturday at Cal Poly as they went into overtime for the seventh time in 14 matches on the year. The outcome was familiar as well, as neither team could score in the extra periods, resulting in the Highlanders sixth tie of the season.
UC Riverside (4-4-6, 1-2-4) was credited with seven shots on goal on the day with Cal Poly (9-1-3, 4-0-3) picking up six but none made their way to the back of the net.
The best scoring opportunity of the day came with less than four minutes to go in the first period when the Highlanders Cito Soriano uncorked a shot past Mustangs keeper Eric Branagan-Franco, but a Cal Poly defender was in position to make the save.
The Highlanders return home for their next three matches beginning with a November 2 meeting with UC Davis.
