
Highlanders Drop 3-0 Decision At The Beach, Senior Day Tomorrow At SRC

The UC Riverside Women's Volleyball Team closed out its 2009 road schedule Friday evening with a 3-0 loss at The Beach. The Highlanders end the season Saturday night against Cal State Fullerton at 7 pm at the Student Recreation Center as they say goodbye to the six members of the Class of 2010—Kelley Quinn, Brittney Murrey, Angela Pizzella, Dominique Cowling, Amanda Nilsson, and Tonbara Youpele.
UCR took an early lead in Game One against the 49ers before a solo block gave the Beach a 5-4 advantage that they would never relinquish. Following the 25-18 Game One win, the Beach led wire to wire in Game Two taking the the set 25-15.
In the decisive Game Three, the Highlanders led early once again, 8-7, but The Beach scored eight of the next 11 points to take a 15-11 lead. UCR tied things up at 19, but three straight UCR errors put the 49ers up by three. The teams traded points until Long Beach State's Ashley Lee picked up her third kill giving the Beach the win, 25-22.
