Men's Soccer Falls 3-0 To Ill.-Chicago At UNLV Rebel Classic
9/20/2009 3:18:36 PM | Men's Soccer
Illinois-Chicago 3, UC Riverside 0
The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team dropped its second match of the UNLV Rebel Classic Sunday afternoon falling 3-0 to Illinois-Chicago. The Highlanders' offense has stalled of late as UCR managed just eight shots on the day including one on goal by Doug Thrasher (pictured).
The game was scoreless until the 25:53 mark of the first half when Charlie Trout's free kick from 25 yards out eluded Ryan Schmitz, who was making his second start in goal on the year for the Highlanders (1-5-0).
The deficit remained at one heading into halftime, but with 10:35 gone in the second, Ivan Stanisavljevic made it 2-0 Flames (2-2-3) with an unassisted goal of his own. Just over 13 minutes later, Ian Sarachan made it 3-0 Illinois-Chicago for the final margin of victory.
Next up for the Highlanders is a September 24 meeting on the road with Loyola Marymount. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 pm.
