Volleyball Drops Big West Opening Match 3-0 at UC Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara, CA - The UC Riverside volleyball team traveled to UC Santa Barbara on Friday evening for their Big West opening tilt against the Gauchos, but came up on the short end of a 3-0 decision as they fell 25-14, 25-18 and 25-14. The Highlanders drop to 1-9, 0-1 on the season while UCSB improves to 10-2, 1-0.
Dominique Cowing and Kelly Simpson led UCR with seven kills apiece while Amanda Nilsson (pictured) recorded a team-high 12 digs and Brittney Murrey posted 14 assists on the night.
The Highlanders continue Big West play in the Central Coast as they head to San Luis Obispo on Saturday evening for a 7:00 pm match at Cal Poly.
