UC Riverside vs. UC Santa Barbara - Game Notes
The UC Riverside women’s basketball team continues Big West Conference play on Saturday with a 5:00 pm tip against UC Santa Barbara.
Fans may follow the game live via live stats or listen to the play-by-play as the Voice of the Highlanders, Ghizal Hasan, calls the game beginning at 4:55 pm right here at gohighlanders.com.
The Highlanders will look to get back-to-back victories for the first time all year on Saturday after their 74-61 defeat of Cal State Northridge two days earlier. Senior Marissa Rivera (pictured) leads three UCR players in double-figures with 12.2 points per game.
The Gauchos have dropped two of their last three games entering Saturday’s contest. Two players are averaging double figures in scoring for UCSB led by Emilie Johnson’s 12.8 ppg and Media Valentine’s 12.0 ppg.
UC Santa Barbara owns the all-time record against the Highlanders, 14-20, including winning the last four straight games.
The last UCR win against the Gauchos came on Mar. 10, 2007 -- a 70-67 defeat in the Big West Basketball Tournament that sent the Highlanders to their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance in as many years.
