Women's XC Wins Team Title At CSUN Inv.; Hall First On The Men's Side

The UC Riverside women's cross country team won the 6k Northridge Invitational on Saturday morning led by a third place individual finish from sophomore Damajeria DuBose.
The Highlanders tallied 42 points for first place out of eight teams, while Cal State Fullerton finished second with 55 points and USC came in third with 56 points.
Dubose's time of 21:30.7 was good enough for third place overall out of 87 runners.
Margaret Sitker finished in fifth place in 21:31.2, while Katy Daly was the third UCR runner to place in the top-10 as she finished ninth in 21:44.6.
Jenessia Navarro finished 11th with a time of 21:51.0; Brittany Reimer placed 14th in 21:56.4; Camila Alvarez was 23rd with a time of 22:04.6; and Jzsanette Lindstrom finished with a time of 22:05.8 to place 26th.
On the men's side, junior Chad Hall won the race in a course record time of 23:24.
He led the Highlanders to a second place team finish out of seven teams with 46 points, three behind UC Santa Barbara with 43 points. Cal State Fullerton finished in third place with 52 points.
Talal Khan finished second for UCR with an eighth place finish in 24:29.3. Omar Gonzalez and Steven Crum finished 12th and 13th respectively with times of 24:34.9 and 24:39.0.
Brett Valencia finished in 21st place in 25:15.0 while Carlo Ordinola placed 30th in 25:52.0, and Ervin Romo finished 43rd in 26:41.3.
The Northridge Invitational was the final tune-up before the Big West Conference Championships return to the Ag/Ops Course at UC Riverside on Oct. 30 beginning at 8:45 am.
