Game Notes - UC Riverside vs. Arizona State
Coming off its 52-34 season-opening win on Friday evening against Montana (watch the highlight video), the UC Riverside women's basketball will look to make it two in a row as they host Arizona State on Sunday at 2:00 pm at the Student Recreation Center.
Sunday is Moreno Valley Day, where the city Mayor will be the Honorary Assistant Coach. UCR is offering 2 for 1 tickets to all Moreno Valley citizens by using the code ucrwbmoval online or bringing something to the game with name and city listed (i.e. driver's license, bill, etc.).
In the season opener, the Highlanders limited Montana to 34 points—the fewest in the team’s Division I history—and the fewest allowed since UCR limited San Francisco State to 30 on November 23, 1996 in a 48-30 win. The previous DI low was credited to UC Irvine with 35 on February 28, 2009. Senior Brittany Waddell (pictured) led all players with 16 points against the Grizzlies.
Arizona State won its opener 81-46 over Northern Arizona on Friday evening. The Sun Devils have beaten the Highlanders in both prior meetings, the last a 68-45 win on December 14, 2008.
Fans who are unable to attend the game may follow all of the action as the Voice of the Highlanders, Ghizal Hasan, brings the call from courtside to gohighlanders.com. Fans may also follow the game via LiveStats.
