UC Riverside vs. UT San Antonio Game Notes
Riverside—The UC Riverside Men’s Basketball Team returns to the friendly confines of the Student Recreation Center this week following a four-game road swing that took them through Dallas, TX and San Jose, CA.
UT San Antonio is the opponent this Thursday, December 2 beginning at 7 pm PT as the Highlanders look to maintain their unblemished record at home. Fans who are unable to attend the game may listen to the Voice of the Highlanders, John Ramey, bring the call from coutside via Stretch Internet's GameCentral or on KPRO 1570 AM.
Junior Phil Martin has emerged as UCR’s primary offensive weapon early in the season posting four consecutive double-digit scoring efforts heading into Thursday’s game including games of 29 and 27 points. He was named to the SMU Invitational All-Tournament Team last week, and this week earned UC Riverside’s Budweiser Responsibility Matters Good Sport of the Month accolades. He enters the UT San Antonio game averaging 15.7 points per game while connecting on 60.7 percent of his field goal attempts.
The Roadrunners come into Thursday’s meeting with the Highlanders carrying a 4-1 overall record including a 72-63 home win over San Jose State on Tuesday of this week. UC Riverside fell to the Spartans, 80-77, in San Jose on Sunday.
This is just the second meeting between UT San Antonio and the Highlanders. The Roadrunners won the earlier meeting 60-58 on November 26, 1985 in San Antonio.
