UC Riverside at UC Irvine Game Notes
Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Basketball Team takes a quick break for Christmas this week before getting back in the gym to prepare for the team's first conference game of the season at UC Irvine on December 28. Tip is scheduled for 7 pm PT, and fans who are unable to attend may listen to the Voice of the Highlanders, John Ramey, bring the call from courtside to gohighlanders.com via Stretch Internet's Game Central.
UCR heads into the holiday break undefeated at home (3-0) but having some difficulty on the road (1-7). The Anteaters, who were 6-5 heading into a Thursday night meeting with UCLA, dropped their first two games of the season at Illinois and USC, but since have won six of nine including victories over Seattle, San Diego and Wyoming.
Darren Moore leads the Anteaters offense averaging 16.9 points per game on 53.6 percent shooting from the field. He also is the team's top rebounder (7.0) and averages an Anteaters-best 2.18 steals per game. Patrick Rembert is second on the squad with 12.4 points per game and averages 3.0 assists.
The Highlanders now boast three players averaging double figures in scoring—Phil Martin (13.9), Javon Borum (12.6) and Kareem NItoto (11.0).
The Highlanders are 19-28 all-time against the Aneaters after winning both games during the 2009-10 season.
