UC Riverside at Stanford Game Notes
Riverside—Members of the UC Riverside Men’s Basketball Team are currently cramming for finals, but in a few days, they will embark on one of the most difficult stretches of their 2010-11 schedule beginning with a Sunday, Dec. 12 game at perennial Pac-10 power Stanford. Tip is slated for 5 pm PT, and fans who are unable to attend the game may listen to the Voice of the Highlanders, John Ramey, bring the call from courtside to gohighlanders.com via Stretch Internet's Game Central.
The Cardinal have made 13 NCAA appearances since the 1994-95 season including four trips to the Sweet 16 most recently in 2008. Stanford enters Sunday’s game with a 4-2 record following their November 27 overtime victory over DePaul.
Junior Jeremy Green is the leading scorer for the Cardinal averaging 15.3 points per game behind 43.2 percent shooting from three-point range.
The Highlanders enter the game coming off of an 82-75 win over UT San Antonio. Junior Phil Martin continues to lead the UC Riverside offensive attack upping his scoring average to 16.6 after a 22-point effort vs. the Roadrunners.
A UCR win over the Cardinal would be the first for the Highlanders over a Pac-10 team during their Division I era. UC Riverside is 2-23 all-time against the Pac-10 with wins over Oregon State (67-62 on December 9, 2000) and Cal (69-63 on December 14, 1979).
