UC Riverside at Loyola Marymount Game Notes (Gm 1)
The UC Riverside Baseball Team is off until Friday, February 26 when they begin a unique four-game series with Loyola Marymount. LMU will host the Highlanders for single games on Friday and Sunday, February 28, while UCR will host the Lions in a noon double header at the Riverside Sports Complex on Saturday, February 27. Fans unable to attend Saturday's twinbill can listen to the games on gohighlanders.com. Sunday's audio broadcast is also available via the electric interweb.
The Highlanders are coming off of their first loss of the season—a 14-1 defeat at the hands of San Diego State on Tuesday evening. UCR opened the year with four straight wins—three over BYU and a single victory over Bethune Cookman.
Sophomore catcher Robert Brantly is living up to his preseason hype thus far as he has eight hits, a pair of home runs, a .500 on base percentage and is slugging over .800 on the young season. UCR's four victories in 2010 are split among four different pitchers—Matt Larkins, Trevor Frank, Derek Speigner and Dustin Emmons.
