Highlanders Fall To Sixth To Conclude Big West Conference Championships

San Luis Obispo, CA - The UC Riverside women's golf team had just one score in the 70s on Tuesday afternoon as the team shot a 332 to drop into sixth place out of seven teams to conclude play at the Big West Conference Championship at San Luis Obispo Country Club.
The Highlanders were tied for fifth heading into the final round of play after scores of 317-321, but a 332 third-round score set them back to sixth with a 940 total.
No. 31 ranked UC Davis won the team title with a three-round 900, while Long Beach State and No. 40 ranked UC Irvine placed second and third respectively with scores of 919 and 925. Cal Poly (948) finished fourth, Cal State Northridge (959) fifth, the Highlanders sixth, and Cal State Northridge (995) seventh to round out the tournament.
Senior Alexandra Erdman (pictured) finished as the Highlanders top competitor, tying for 18th place with a three-round 238 (78-81-79).
Freshman Amelia Ek, who was tied for third after the first round of play, dropped into a tie for 20th place, shooting 75-81-83 (239) to conclude the tournament.
Natalie Guidry fired rounds of 84-78-84 (246) to tie for 25th, while Tiffany Koyano tied for 29th place with a three-round 252 (80-86-86), and Denyse Neville shot 84-81-90 (255) to finish 33rd.
UC Davis' Chelsea Stelzmiller and Amy Simanton tied for the individual medalist honor with a three-round eight-over-par 224, but Stelzmiler won on the third playoff hole to claim the title.
The Championships conclude the season for the UC Riverside women's golf team.
