UCR's Rain Delayed Comeback From 7 Down Falls Short As LMU Wins 11-10

Loyola Marymount 11, UC Riverside 10 Box Score
Riverside—After a couple of false starts, the UC Riverside baseball team finally got a home game in against Loyola Marymount Wednesday afternoon, but two and a half months after the initial call time, it was the Lions who held on for an 11-10 win.
Originally scheduled as a double header at the Riverside Sports Complex on February 27, both of those games were rained out and later rescheduled for April 21 and May 12. The April 21 make-up game lasted only three innings before rain again put a halt to play with the Lions leading 7-0.
The team's picked up the action in the top of the fourth on Wednesday afternoon, and the Highlanders mounted a steady comeback throughout the game scoring single runs in the fourth and fifth, a pair of runs in the sixth and eighth, and four in the ninth. However the UCR defense game up two runs in the sixth and eighth, and Loyola Marymount held on for an 11-10 win.
Tony Nix, who had the Highlanders lone hit in the first three innings back in April, banged out two more while scoring two runs and driving in three. Justin Shults (pictured) enjoyed a three for four evening with three RBIs and a pair of scores.
