Men's Soccer Homestand Continues Thursday vs. No. 17 CSU Bakersfield
9/14/2010 5:04:26 PM | Men's Soccer
Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team (2-3-0) has already doubled its win total from a year ago, and needs just two goals to match its scoring output from all of 2009. Next up, however, is a home match against CSU Bakersfield (3-0-0) on Thursday at 7 pm PT. The Roadrunners are currently ranked 27th in the nation in the NSCAA/HendrickCars.com rankings and 17th in the Soccer America poll.
Already this season, CSUB has victories over Big West opponents UC Santa Barbara (1-0 in overtime) and UC Davis (3-1). The team's most recent win came in a 2-0 decision at San Francisco.
After back-to-back 2-1 overtime losses, including one to 17th ranked UCLA, UC Riverside got back on the winning track Monday with a 1-0 win over Biola in the Highlanders home opener.
This is the fourth meeting between UC Riverside and CSU Bakersfield, and the Roadrunners have won each of the past two matches including a 3-2 win on September 11, 2009.
