Chad Hall Takes Fourth As Highlanders Finish Second At UCR Invitational

Riverside—UC Riverside's Chad Hall finished in fourth place Saturday morning at the 30th running of the UC Riverside Cross Country Invitational helping the Highlanders place second overall to the nationally-ranked BYU Cougars. Hall's time of 24:13.0 was four seconds faster than his eighth place finish from a year ago.
BYU's Miles Batty won the race for the second consecutive season finishing in 23:41.1, just under six seconds faster than second place finisher Cameron Levins. The 16th-ranked Cougars took home the team title placing three runners in the top five, and all seven of their scorers in the top 16 spots.
UC Riverside freshman Seth Totten was the second highest finisher for the Highlanders coming in 19th place with a time of 24:46.2. He was followed by junior Steven Crum (26th, 24:57.5), who bettered his 2009 time in the race by more than half a minute; sophomore Talal Khan (33rd, 25:00.8); freshman Omar Gonzalez (52nd, 25:16.2); sophomore Brett Valancia (63rd, 25:28.4), who dropped nearly 15 seconds off of his time from a year ago; and junior Carlo Ordinola (161st, 26:48.4).
Next up for the Highlanders is an October 2 trip up the coast to Willamette, Oregon for the Willamette Invitational beginning at 10 am PT.
