Hall Wins Nevada Twilight Classic; Men's And Women's Teams Place Second

Sparks, NV - UC Riverside junior Chad Hall won the 6k Nevada Twilight Classic on Friday evening in a meet record time of 19:49 at Shadow Mountain Park Course. The men's team finished just three points behind nationally-ranked No. 1 Stanford to finish second out of three teams, while the women also placed second in a four-team 4k race.
In the 6k Men's College / Open Race, Hall beat out three Stanford runners to claim individual medalist honors. His time of 19:49 was 15 seconds ahead of the next competitor and established a personal-best in that distance.
As a team, the Highlanders tallied 37 points, just three shy of Stanford's 34. Fresno State placed third with 52 points.
Talal Khan finished fifth for the Highlanders in 20:29, a personal 6k best. Steven Crum was eighth in a career 6k-best of 20:43.
Seth Totten (11th, 20:54), Brett Valencia (12th, 21:02), and Omar Gonzalez (13th, 21:33) rounded out the UCR squad.
On the women's side, UCR had three top-10 runners led by Damajeria DuBose's seventh place finish to establish a personal best 4k time of 15:57. Katy Daly placed eighth in 16:05, while Margaret Sitker was tenth in 16:08.
Brittany Reimer (16:21) and Jzsanette Lindstrom (16:26) finished 12th and 13th respectively while Camila Alvarez (16:51) was 19th to round out the Highlanders squad.
No. 12 ranked Stanford won the team title totaling 27 points with UCR placing second with 45 points. Nevada and Fresno State finished third and fourth with 71 and 72 points respectively to round out the teams.
The Highlanders next hit the trails to host the 30th Annual UC RIverside Cross Country Invitational at the Agricultural Operations Course on Sept. 18 beginning at 7:30 am in Riverside, CA.
