Highlanders Head To Cal St. Northridge For Thursday Tilt With Matadors

UC Riverside vs. Cal State Northridge Game Notes
Northridge, CA—The UC Riverside Men's Basketball Team heads to Cal State Northridge on Thursday, January 13 to take on the Matadors in a 7:05 pm tilt. Fans who are unable to attend tha game may listen to the Voice of the Highlanders, John Ramey, bring the call from courtside to gohighlanders.com via Stretch Internet's Game Central. Ramey's call will also be carried on KPRO 1570 AM.
The Highlanders are looking to get back in the win column following an 83-77 overtime loss to Cal State Fullerton on Saturday evening. Javon Borum led UC Riverside with 23 points including the team's final five in regulation which came with 2.1 seconds on the clock. He leads the Highlanders in scoring this season with 14.5 points per game ranking 12th in the conference in that category. Borum also ranks second in the Big West in free throw percentage, ninth in three-point field goal percentage, fifth in three-pointers made per game and eighth in minutes played.
The Matadors have dropped two straight and five of their last six games entering Thursday's match up. Lenny Daniel (17.1 points per game) and Rashaun McLemore (16.1) are both ranked in the top five in the conference in scoring, but CSUN is allowing 74.0 points per game on the defensive end this season including 80.0 in conference games.
UC Riverside has dropped 12 straight meetings with the Matadors, and has just three wins against them in the Division I history of the program. CSUN upended the Highlanders 63-47 and 64-50 last season holding UCR to a combined 29.5 percent shooting from the field. UC Riverside's last victory over Cal State Nothridge came in a 72-71 overtime win on March 4, 2004.
