Nottingham's Career-High 26 Leads Highlanders To 82-71 Win Over CSUB

Riverside, CA - Tre'Shonti Nottingham's career-high 26 points guided the UC Riverside women's basketball team to an 82-71 victory over CSU Bakersfield in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Student Recreation Center.
The Highlanders improve to 10-8 overall while the Roadrunners fall to 13-10.
Nottingham scored 16 of her game-high 26 points in the second half, going 10 of 14 from the field including 4 of 5 from beyond the arc.
Three other players scored in double figures led by Alyssa Morris' 18 points and 13 rebounds. Rhaya Neabors added 14 points while Brittany Waddell had 13.
The Highlanders were consistent from the field all game, hitting 45.5 percent of their shots in the first half and 44.1 percent of their shots in the second half. The defense limited the Runners to just 33.8 percent shooting, while UCR out-rebounded CSUB 50-38.
The teams stayed within a couple baskets of each other for half of the first period until UCR turned a 21-18 lead into a 37-24 advantage by hitting 6 of 10 shots over a six minute and 41 second span.
In the second period, Rhaya Neabors scored five of UC Riverside's points in a 10-0 run as the Highlanders turned a 48-40 advantage into a 58-40 ball game with 12:08 left.
CSU Bakersfield went on an 11-2 run three minutes later closing the margin to single digits, 60-51.
UC Riverside's lead never dipped below seven points the rest of the half, however, as they pushed the lead back up to 15 with 48 seconds left, and held on for the win.
UCR's 82 points scored is the most all season and the most since they scored 83 against Pacific on January 2, 2008.
The Highlanders return to Big West Conference play on Thursday, January 22 with a 7:00 pm PST contest against UC Davis at the Student Recreation Center in Riverside.
