UC Riverside vs. Cal State Northridge Game Notes
Riverside—The last time the UC Riverside Men’s Basketball Team (7-12, 2-5) tangled with Cal State Northridge (8-13, 5-3), the Highlanders ended a 12-game losing streak against the Matadors. Unfortunately for UCR, that was also the team’s last win, as the Highlanders have dropped four straight since upending CSUN 70-61 at The Matadome on January 13.
Tip for the Thursday, February 3 meeting between the clubs is slated for 7 pm PT. Fans who are unable to attend the game in person may follow all of the action as the Voice of the Highlanders, John Ramey, brings the call from courtside to gohighlanders.com via Stretch Internet's Game Central and to KPRO 1570 AM.
Three of those four losses have come on the road as UCR began conference play with five of seven away from the friendly confines of the SRC.
The Matadors, meanwhile, have won four straight Big West games, including a 15-point win over Cal Poly and a 24-point victory over Cal State Fullerton, to move into second place in the conference. Lenny Daniel and Rashaun McLemore rank fifth and sixth in the conference in scoring averaging 16.1 and 15.9 points per game.
UCR’s Javon Borum currently ranks 11th in the Big West in scoring, while he and Phil Martin are second and third in the conference in free throw percentage and BJ Shearry is second in blocked shots.
