UC Riverside at Cal State Fullerton Game Notes
Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Basketball Team snapped a four-game losing streak on Thursday with a 73-70 home win over Cal State Northridge. They now turn their attention to putting together their first winning-streak of the season as they travel to Cal State Fullerton on Saturday for a 6 pm PT meeting with the Titans.
Fans who are unable to attend the game can listen to the Voice of the Highlanders, John Ramey, bring the call of the action to gohighlanders.com via Stretch Internet's Game Central and to KPRO 1570 AM.
The Titans picked up an 83-77 overtime win over the Highlanders at the Student Recreation Center back on January 8, 2011. UCR's Javon Borum led all scorers with 23 points, but Fullerton had five players score in double figures led by Devon Peltier's 21 points.
UC Riverside forced the overtime period by scoring five points in the final 2.2 seconds helped in part by a technical foul assessed on the Titans for calling a time out after they had used up their allotment. Cal State Fullerton scored eight of the first nine points in the extra, stanza, however, in picking up the win.
The Titans have won four straight home games heading into Saturday night's game: a stretch which encompasses victories over UC Irvine, Long Beach State, UC Santa Barbara and Pacific. Four Cal State Fullerton players are averaging double figures in scoring led by Jer'Vaughn Johnson's 14.6 points.
The Highlanders are looking for their third Big West road win of the season which would tie the team mark established on two previous occasions including 2009-10. Borum's 14.2 points per game still paces UC Riverside followed by Phil Martin'1 13.5 and Kareem Nitoto's 10.1.
