UC Riverside vs. San Diego State Game Notes
San Diego—The UC Riverside Baseball Team (19-14) is looking for its fifth straight win Tuesday as they travel down to San Diego State for a 6 pm PT meeting with the Aztecs. Fans who are unable to make the trip may follow all of the action on their computers and mobile devices as the Voice of the Highlanders, Ghizal Hasan, brings the call to gohighlanders.com via Stretch Internet's Game Central.
Dustin Emmons gets the start for UCR, and he brings a 3-2 record and a 5.52 earned run average into the game. He has struggled over his last three appearances, allowing 15 hits and 10 earned runs in 10.1 innings of work.
Trevor Hairgrove has been swinging the hot stick of late for the Highlanders as he brings an 11-game hitting streak into Tuesday's contest. He is hitting .511 over that span with a .564 on base percentage and a .617 slugging percentage.
Hairgrove now leads the Highlanders with a .341 batting average while his .417 on base percentage and 19 RBIs rank second on the squad. The senior shortstop was named the conference player of the week this past week hitting .538/.571/.692 in a three-game series sweep of CSU Bakersfield.
The Aztecs are just 12-28 on the season, but one of those wins was a 5-1 decision over the Highlanders back on March 22. They have dropped eight of their last nine, including a 3-0 loss at UC Irvine on April 5
Left-hander Mitch Bluman gets the start for SDSU in what will, in all likelihood, be a "staff day" for the Aztecs. Bluman has appeared in 11 games this season, but thrown just 8.2 innings. He has allowed 10 hits, walked six and struck out two, giving up two earned runs for an ERA of 2.08. He has yet to figure in a decision.
The Aztecs are hitting just .248 as a club, and no regular is batting over .300.
